Using a simple map to access the Definitive Map of Oxfordshire

This is obtained from the online version of the Definitive Map of Oxfordshire that is provided by Oxfordshire County Council.

Credits

Three independent activities are taking place on this web page:

1. Most squares have the name of a place. In order to find places with high populations, this web page has used the data of the 2001 Census provided by the Office for National Statistics. If you wish to have your own copy of the data, it can be downloaded from a web page of the ONS choosing 2001 Census: Key Statistics followed by Parish Headcounts.
2. In order to find grid references for these places, this web page has used the data of the 1:50 000 Scale Gazetteer. This data is Ordnance Survey data © Crown Copyright and Database Right 2016. It was released under the terms of the OS OpenData Licence. The 1:50 000 Scale Gazetteer is no longer available - it got replaced by OS Open Names in October 2017.
3. Each grid reference is being used as an index into the online version of the Definitive Map of Oxfordshire that is provided by Oxfordshire County Council. Here is a link to a web page giving more details about the online version of the Definitive Map of Oxfordshire.
